Careers Snapshot (within MCG)

What motivated my career moves
My initial motivation to join MCG came through my internal network, particularly my first boss and line manager, who introduced me to the opportunity and encouraged me to explore it further. After 14 years in a trading company (Sogo Shosha), I felt it was the right moment to step out of my comfort zone and move into a new industry.
Since then my motivation has been driven by the opportunity to take on greater responsibility, lead people, and contribute more strategically to business growth and transformation, while continuously challenging myself and learning through new experiences.
How I prepared for my next roles
I prepare for new roles by first investing time in understanding the business environment, the team, and the market context through close engagement with colleagues and stakeholders. I believe listening is the foundation of learning—understanding people, dynamics, customer expectations, and key challenges.
I also place strong emphasis on open and frequent communication, as well as alignment with leadership and strategic priorities to ensure clarity of direction.
At the same time, I actively build my knowledge through market research, cross-functional collaboration, and learning from experienced colleagues and mentors. My focus is always to adapt quickly, build trust, and identify opportunities to contribute and improve from an early stage.
Support I received along the way
Throughout my career in MCG, I have been fortunate to receive strong support from line managers, senior leadership, and HR colleagues who trusted my potential and gave me opportunities to grow into new roles—even in areas where I initially had limited experience.
I highly appreciate this trust, mentoring, and guidance, which motivated me to continuously challenge myself, grow professionally and personally, and deliver positive results for the business and the teams I was leading.
Challenges I overcame
One of the most significant challenges—and also one of the most rewarding aspects—has been leading and working with people. Managing different personalities, expectations, and motivations requires empathy, communication, and consistency.
At the same time, leadership also means balancing people development with business performance. During periods of change or transformation, this balance can become particularly demanding.
I have learned that trust, transparency, accountability, and a positive mindset are essential to navigating these challenges effectively.
My advice to others
Never stop learning and continuously challenge yourself. Growth requires stepping out of your comfort zone, taking ownership, and embracing new responsibilities.
At the same time, stay authentic. Trust, credibility, and strong relationships are built through honesty, openness, and consistency.
Not every decision will be perfect—but having the courage to act, learn, and adapt is what drives real development.
