What began as a goal to improve communication across IT and business evolved into a broader understanding of leadership, perspective, and impact.
“Coming from a strong technical background, I approached mentoring with a clear goal: to better translate complex IT topics into language that resonates with the business. Working with Pierre—whose role brings him close to business leaders at the EMEA Headquarters—gave me exactly that opportunity, and more.
I initially expected to improve how I communicate technical concepts. What I gained, however, was a much broader perspective on leadership. One moment that particularly stayed with me was our discussion about the importance of bringing in different perspectives. That insight has since influenced how I approach situations, especially complex ones, where considering diverse viewpoints leads to better outcomes.
Today, I approach my work differently than I did 12 months ago. I’m more conscious of simplifying IT topics so they are clear and accessible to business stakeholders—particularly when presenting projects or roadmaps. This has been especially important as we continue to support a more digital way of working across the organisation.
If I had to describe my mentoring journey in three words, they would be perspective, communication, and growth. It has helped me not only refine my skills but also expand how I think and collaborate.
To everyone reading this: mentoring is an opportunity to grow beyond your immediate role—embrace it.”
